ARGUMENTATIVE TEXT : The presidential debate discussed unimportant things
In my opinion, the 2024 presidential debates covered a lot of important issues. Because the presidential candidates conducted the debate by debating ideas on a number of key issues. They discussed social welfare, culture, information technology, education, health, employment, human resources and inclusion. These topics, in my opinion, are things that must and must be discussed so that the Indonesian people know the potential of each candidate in their answers. So that people will know and be sure to choose the right president.
Firstly, presidential candidates Prabowo Subianto and Ganjar Prabowo debated each other on the topic of stunting. The fifth/last presidential debate started to get a little heated. This was due to the response of presidential candidate number 3, Ganjar Prabowo, to a question from presidential candidate number 2 on the feeding programme for stunted children. They argued between agreeing and disagreeing about the feeding programme. Prabowo said that the feeding programme should be done and given to children, but according to Ganjar, stunting should be addressed since the baby is in the womb. So, it should be the mother who is prioritised for nutrition.
Second, the presidential candidate debate on education and health. In the debate on education and health, candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan will ensure a healthy life and quick help in handling health problems. Meanwhile, candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto, wants to increase the honour of the Indonesian people and improve the quality of life of all Indonesians. His party will build modern hospitals in every regency/city and modern health centres in every village. Meanwhile, Presidential Candidate number 3, Ganjar Pranowo, wants to ensure good access to education. He wants the education system in Indonesia to be more inclusive, as well as a solid curriculum. The support facilities provided must also be able to provide the best access for students. Ganjar also wants to provide easy access to necessary health services in every village.
Thirdly, this presidential debate also discussed employment. The three candidates have previously stated their political promises in their vision and mission documents, including on employment. Each candidate also has its own target in creating jobs. Candidate number one in his political promise document set a target of at least 15 new job creations, including green jobs in 2025-2029. Candidate number two does not target how many jobs will be created, but they promise to create as many jobs as possible by prioritising domestic workers. Meanwhile, candidate number 03 set a target of 17 million new jobs if trusted to lead Indonesia in the next five years.
The 2024 presidential debates discussed many topics such as social welfare, labour, education, and health. We as citizens who want to live a prosperous life must also be able to make choices. Understand the content of each candidate's debate by knowing their vision and mission. Elections are not just a form of democracy. Every Indonesian citizen has the right to vote according to their conscience and responsibility. So, make the best use of your voting rights to build a better future for the nation.
